Shoe brand update

Hi All,

Just thought I'd give you an update on my "safe shoe" list for 2017. I would still take the time to email and check. When I haven't previous years, that's when (other) companies have started using Thiuram and I've had a reaction.  In no particular order, these are the ones I've found to be safe from Thiuram.

  1. Ugg
  2. Kamik
  3. PO-ZU (these have vegan & vegetarian options)
  4. Gabor (sometimes you might need to shop here though due to limited shipping options from the other site)
  5. Birkenstock
  6. Teva
  7. And now, as of October 12, 2017 ... a RUNNING SHOE! Hoka One One
In all, I would recommend any of the brands. They - like all products - have their strengths and weaknesses. However, I find them comfortable, durable, and my feet don't itch!  They are definitely pricey though, so you definitely will need to be prepared for that.  Most of the links I put above are the Canadian ones, so you might have to shop around. The American sites often have more options. Also, you can sometimes get good deals on new goods on amazon, as you know, or general shoe sellers like softmoc.

Reminder, I'm no doctor, allergy expert, shoe expert, or anything like that. I'm just a person who loves shoes, spends a lot of time on my feet,  and needs to have a variety to brave a mish-mash of Canadian weather!

I hope this helps and saves you time, stress, and money. If you know of any others, please comment!
Thanks and happy pedestrian-ing :)

nerdy shoe paradise

One of the biggest problems I find with this allergy (besides the obvious -cost, limited options, and no athletic shoes) is that sometimes you just can't buy anything fun!  I'm a big nerd, so I am so excited to see that the awesome eco shoe brand Po-Zu is pairing up with Rogue One to create awesome nerdy footwear: https://po-zu.com/pages/home-star-wars

For example: Your feet could feel totally rebellious with this sweet Red-5 feel

Or even cooler, be super cozy as a Wookie.

These are amazing, and in I hope bodes well for other future fun team-ups. I would love to see a Harry Potter world or Wonder Woman style.

One of the great things about this team up is that they also have children's shoes. So if your child suffers from a Thiuram allergy, not only can they wear a comfy, well made eco-friendly shoe, but they can also embrace their inner Star Wars nerd.
