Hiking boots

Trying to find hiking boots... Sigh. I'm tired mof having to search and email. I've had a few companies email me back but with nothing definitive.

About Me

Shoegal: Hi, I discovered I had an allergy to Thiuram in July 2009 after having patch testing done by an Allergist. I had contact dermatitis on my feet off and on for almost 2 years before that. At first I thought it was related to one of my seasonal allergies, which would have had to have gotten worse, but then I realized it had to do with my shoes because it kept coming back after the summer was over and my feet were still unbearably itchy. After getting patch testing, I learned I was allergic to Thiuram, an accelerator used in the processing of rubber. I've spent a lot of time emailing shoe companies to ask them to investigate their products to notify me if they use Thiuram in their shoes. I'm hoping this blog will save people with similar allergies some time and effort. There is hope! with a little diligence you can have itch-free feet!

Purpose and Disclaimer

The purpose of this blog is to help other individuals who suffer from an allergy to Thiuram. It will mainly focus on shoes since that is the area that has affected me the most. I will also try to provide other simple information. I am not trying to sell certain brands of shoes or other items. I only want to help others with this frustrating allergy by saving them time and energy since I’ve already emailed a number of shoes companies.

I’ve included a variety of links and information that I’ve discovered in my quest for more information about this particular allergy and allergies in general. I am not a scientist or doctor, so I am relying on my own critical eye to determine accuracy. I am also relying on helpful people from companies to provide correct information. This information may change at any time and most likely without notification. However, I will attempt to update this blog whenever I discover new information.
